What Emergency Assistance is
Emergency Assistance is a one-time payment. It's for a girl already enrolled in college whose earning parent has died, or has been diagnosed with a critical illness. It isn't a scholarship. It isn't an ongoing arrangement. It's a single step to help a student through that loss and keep her in her seat.
Applications go through the Foundation's normal How to Apply process, and we acknowledge every application within 10 to 15 working days. Reach out as early as you can.
When it's meant for you
You can apply if either of these happened within the past 180 days:
- ●Your earning parent has died.
- ●Your earning parent has been diagnosed with a critical illness.
You also need to be currently enrolled in college, with 70% or above in Class 12 if you're applying for an undergraduate course, or 60% or above in graduation if you're applying for a postgraduate course.

One-time only, honestly stated
Emergency Assistance is a one-time payment. Each girl can receive it once. Applying won't help twice. But it doesn't have to be the end of the road. If you later reach the Merit Scholarship marks — 75% for full orphans, or 85% (UG) / 80% (PG) for everyone else — you can convert to the renewable Merit Scholarship.
Which one fits?
Not every fee emergency is the same. Here's how to choose between Emergency Assistance and the Education Continuity Grant:
- ●Your earning parent has died or been diagnosed with a critical illness in the last 180 days, and you have 70% (UG) or 60% (PG) → apply for Emergency Assistance.
- ●Fees have become unaffordable for another reason and you have 75% (UG) or 70% (PG) → apply for the Education Continuity Grant.
- ●Either way, reaching the Merit Scholarship marks lets you convert to the Merit Scholarship.
The Education Continuity Grant is one year of support for a girl at risk of dropping out over fees. It covers 50% to 75% of the tuition fee for one academic year, paid directly to her college. The Scholarship Committee decides the exact percentage. Examination fees are not covered. It's one-time support, not renewable as a Grant.
Who this is for, and how to apply
Emergency Assistance is for girls already enrolled in college across Tamil Nadu and Kerala, whose earning parent has died, or has been diagnosed with a critical illness, in the past 180 days. The Foundation supports girls and women aged 18 and above. Minors are not funded.
